Monday 3 July: 08.00-20.00 Parkinson Building
Tuesday 4 July: 08.00-18.00 Parkinson Building
Wednesday 5 July: 08.00-18.00 Parkinson Building
Thursday 6 July: 08.00-13.00 Parkinson Building
Your registration pack will contain the Addenda/Corrigenda document, your receipt, and your name badge. Your name badge is your pass to the IMC and should be worn at all times. If you lose it, please visit the Information and Payment Desk in the Refectory Foyer, where another will be made for you.
Check-in, check-out and luggage store
At all IMC accommodation, check-in opens at 14.00 on the first day of your stay. You will need to check out of your room by 10.00 am on the day you are due to leave.
Most hotels and halls of residence will have space for you to store your luggage if you arrive early or need to leave later.
The IMC will also be operating a luggage store at the back of the Refectory for the duration of the IMC. Please be aware that all luggage is left at your own risk.
For security reasons, please do not leave any of your luggage unattended at any time.
Any cars entering the campus (24 hours, 7 days a week) are subject to car parking charges, including evenings and weekends. You will need to book and pay for your parking space in advance through the IMC Online Store.
Your parking permit will expire at 00.00 (Midnight) on the day for which it was purchased. This means that, if you are staying overnight, you will need to book parking for the following day as well.
You can park anywhere in the Orange Zone car park; your parking permit does not reserve you a specific space. We recommend using the signposted multi-storey car park on campus. Alternatively, spaces are available at The Edge, the University’s sports centre. Find these on the University of Leeds campus map.
Before you leave, you must enter your unique code on one of the machines on level 1 of the multi-storey car park. Failing to do so will trigger an automatic fine. The code is provided in the letter in your registration pack.
If you have not pre-booked parking through the IMC Online Store, you will not be able to park on the University campus without incurring a fine. Unfortunately, it is not possible to book parking on the day.
Read or download Full terms and conditions about the parking regulation
On-street parking may also be available near campus, but always check local signage for restrictions.
If you have booked on-campus disabled parking, remember that you will need to display your valid EU blue badge, or international equivalent. A parking permit does not reserve you a particular space.
A map including the location of the disabled parking spaces can be supplied on request.
Photography and video
Photographers will be on campus throughout the IMC to capture impressions of the week. They will be present at many of our events, exhibitions, and receptions, but also occasionally in some session rooms. On Thursday 6 July, an external company will also be on campus recording video at Making Leeds Medieval.
We may use these images and videos in publicity materials for future IMC events, on our website, or on our social media accounts. If you do not want to be included in any photographs or video taken by the IMC’s photographers, please let them know as early as possible.
Accessibility on campus
We are committed to facilitating access across campus for all of our delegates. While we ask you to provide as much notice as possible so we can make sure your individual needs are met, please contact a member of staff if you have any accessibility issues at the IMC. We will do our best to help.
To see all disabled access points to buildings on campus, please use the Facilities filter on the University campus map.
Finding your way
Each building has been allocated a colour which is used on the maps, plans, and signage around campus and in the printed programme. Larger print and other maps are available at the IMC Information Desks in the Refectory Foyer and Parkinson Court.
The coloured bar above each session listing in the programme corresponds to the building where the session is taking place.
If you have not booked meal tickets in advance, you can purchase them on campus in the Refectory Foyer. It is not possible to sell meal tickets to other delegates if you do not use them.
- Refectory lunch: £9.00
- Packed lunch (collect from the Marquee): £5.50
- Refectory dinner: £11.00
Please be aware that queues for meal tickets at the IMC can be very long, especially in the first few days.
We cannot guarantee any meals that are not booked in advance. Though we will do our best to accommodate any special dietary requirements, we cannot guarantee this will always be possible.
Alternative meal options
If you would prefer to purchase your meals elsewhere, there are a variety of options on and around campus.
- The Refectory, where you can purchase cafeteria-style lunches and dinners
- Old Bar and Terrace Bar in Leeds University Union
- Coffee bars around campus
- Leeds University Union shops
- Street food will also be available every lunchtime in University Square.
Find these and other options by using the ‘Food’ filter on the University campus map.
Leeds city centre also boasts a very wide variety of coffee shops, bars, and restaurants.
Your individual username and password can be found on the back of your name badge. These will allow you access to the computer, photocopying and printing facilities in the computer clusters. You will be allocated some printing and photocopying credit with your login details, but you will need to buy credit for any additional use.
The Woolhouse Cluster in the basement of the Parkinson Building and the 24-hour Textiles Cluster in the School of Design are both open to IMC delegates. IT support for laptops, tablets and smartphones is available at the Woolhouse Cluster during the day and in the Textiles Cluster in the evenings.
University computers run Windows with Microsoft Office 2013 and Internet Explorer 10. No facilities or support are available for Macs.
Remember that by completing your registration, you agree to the University’s Conditions of Use of Computer Systems for Visitors.

Fire safety notices are posted throughout the campus. Please familiarise yourself with your nearest fire exit and the correct collection point for the area in which you will be participating.
If the alarm is activated, please evacuate the building immediately and report to the assembly point indicated on the notice.
All registered IMC delegates have read-only access to the University of Leeds Libraries during the IMC. Access is given by scanning your barcode on the barriers at the entrance to the library. Your barcode can be found on the back of your IMC 2017 Name Badge which is in your Registration Pack. Delegates are assigned an individual barcode which must not be shared.
Delegates using the library agree to the University Library – Terms and Conditions of Use
You are also welcome to make use of the University Library Special Collections. The Reading Room is open 09.00-18.00 every day during the IMC – you will need to book an appointment in advance.
